Tiger in a cage: When Dysfunction Points to Something More
There is a tiger in a cage in a zoo. We don’t really know how long the tiger has been in the cage. We don’t know much about him at all really. How long has he been here? Did he come in as a cub, or a young tiger? He is by himself and his enclosure is small. There is a young child watching the tiger and she points out to her dad, “Look! There is something wrong with the tiger!” His back is crooked!”
Many more people start talking about what is wrong with the tiger.
And so there it was. So as we watch the situation so many more people start talking about what is wrong with the tiger and what they may be able to do.
Perhaps it needs some chiropractic care. Perhaps he needs a friend. Maybe the food is the issue.
How often is it that we as people are also caught in cages and we think something is wrong with us? After all, wasn’t it pointed out to us what our issues are?
But maybe to the point, it is not the tiger that has the issue. It is not us that have the issue. The tiger is having a healthy reaction to an unhealthy situation. It is the cage that is the problem. Not the tiger. The tiger needs to be free, to roam where tigers do. When we too find a way out of the cages we are placed in, we too will heal and be free like the tiger.
